Antivirus false positives
The CreateInstall installer is a complex software product. It takes scripts of your project and files, which need to be installed, and creates an installation in the form of an executable .exe file. Sometimes a situation arises when an antivirus begins to report that the created installation or unistallation is infected with a virus. There is no need to panic right away, especially if the virus was found after an update of antivirus databases. We can say with a great deal of assurance that a false positive has occurred. One of the reasons may be that someone created a harmful program with the help of CreateInstall, and antivirus developers didn’t attentively sort out the situation. In this case the antivirus will find a virus in all installations created by the installer. If a virus is found only in one file then it may just be a coincidence with the checksum of the specified virus.
So, an antivirus found a virus, let’s say in the file setup.exe, created by CreateInstall. First, check this file on the site virustotal.com. This service checks the uploaded file with all of the most well known antivirus programs. According to the results of its report, you can already make a conclusion about how serious the danger is and whether or not the virus found is false. If your antivirus immediately deletes the file or doesn’t allow you to upload it to virustotal.com, then turn off its deletion of infected files option.
After you have made sure that a false positive is occurring, contact your antivirus program’s customer support and send them your file. As a rule, the majority of antivirus programs have a special form on their site for sending messages about false positives.
